Institution: Department of anesthesiology,Affiliated 157th Hospital of GuangZhou genaral hospital of GuangZhou military command .,Guangzhou ,Guangdong 510510, China Abseract: Objective: to study the effect of propofol in treatment of local anesthetic toxicity induced by sacral block.Methods: we retrospectively analyzed 22 case of local anesthetic toxicity of sacral block in our department from January 2002 to November 2010 who had received a treatment of propofol. From September, 1997, to May,2002,other 22 of those patients who received diazepam therapy as the controlled group. Analyzing those data of HR, SPO2 and MAP which were measured immediately prior to, and 3, 5, 10 and 20min after administration . Results: Compared the group P with D, The symptoms of poisoning local anesthetic caused by sacral block has been controlled effectively in both groups, However, the time to the loss of poisoning symptoms and anesthesia were significant shorter in group P (P<0．01).Conclusion: Local anesthetic toxicity of sacral block can be controlled effectively, and toxic symptom quickly relieved by propofol,thus this is a kind of treatment measure with prospect.
