Abstract: Neuropathic pain is an intractable chronic pain. The efficacy of sodium channel inhibitor for treating these pain has been researched during the past decade. Investigations in neuropathic pain treatment with mexiletine, an oral analog of lidocaine, has gradually increased day by day abroad. But results within the references differ from one another. This review follows it’s analgesia mechanism, animal experiment, clinical research and clinic security to recommend the research status of mexiletine’s uses in neuropathic pain treatment, and prospect it’s value.
