Background: Several trials demonstrated that perioperative β-blockers administration resulted in a reduction in postoperative mortality and cardiovascular complications in patients who underwent noncardiac surgery. Content and Purpose: this paper mainly discuss the clinical indications, drug selection and schedule of β-blockers as well as current issues during clinical application, so as to provide some evidence for further clinical trails and researches . Trend: With the growing understanding of β-blockers, the clinical use will be wilder and wilder, but there are some conflicts among the clinical trails, multicenter, case-controlled clinical trails of lager sample size are in need.
