Abstract：As one of the most important part in the modern medical process, the layout and construction of an Anesthesia-operating room centre in a large multi-disciplinary hospital is highly valued by the hospital administrators. The major preparatory works include the selection of an appropriate building site, building construction and decoration, disciplinary management, medical supplies procurement and clinical information system construction, etc. Shenzhen Binhai Hospital is a large multi-disciplinary hospital with a total in-patient bed of 2000. It is constructed and run by Shenzhen municipal government. After several years of planning and construction, it will open at the end of 2011. The purpose of this article is to summarize the preparatory works and to make exploration for some issues emerged in process of anesthesia-operating room centre construction
