Abstract: 【Abstract】Objective To investigate the effects of sevoflurane anesthesia on hepatic ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury in rabbits. Methods Twenty one healthy adult New Zealand white rabbits were randomly divided into three groups( n= 7): sham operation group (group S), ischemia reperfusion group (group I/R) and sevoflurane group (Sev-IR group) .With 7 in each group. The liver I/R injury rabbit model was produced by occlusion of hepatic blood flow for 45 min followed by 60 min reperfusion. Blood samples were collected at before (T1) and 45 min post ischemia (T2) and 60 min post-reperfusion(T3) respectively for measurement of plasma levels of AST and ALT. Liver specimens were obtained at the end of the experiment for determination of MDA content and examination of pathological changes by HE staining. The expression levels of c-fos protein were observed through immunohistochemisty. Results Compared with group S, plasma ALT and AST activity of [T2: (48 ± 6) U/L and (48 ± 7) U/L, T3: (66 ± 6) U/L and (70 ± 6) U/L] in group I/R .and in Sev-I/R group, plasma ALT and AST activity of [T2: (43 ± 7) U/L and (41 ± 3 U/L, T3): (48 ± 6) U/L and (50 ± 6) U/L],the content of MDA and the expression levels of c-fos protein in I/R group and Sev-I/R group increased significantly (P <0.05 or P < 0.01). All the indices in group Sev-I/R were lower than these in group I/R (P<0.05 or P<0.01). Conclusions Sevoflurane could protect the rabbit liver from ischemia-reperfusion injury, it may be relative to the down-regulation of peroxides.
