【Abstract】 Background Liposomal bupivacaine is a kind of novel amide local anesthetic, which using liposome technology produces the sustained release of bupivacaine. Many studies indicate the analgesic time of liposomal bupivacaine could persist for 72 hours. Objective This paper intends to review the progress of liposomal bupivacaine for postsurgical analgesia. Content This review describes the characteristics, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics and safety of liposomal bupivacaine for postsurgical analgesia. Trend As one of the local anesthetics producing ultralong-acting analgesia, the application of liposomal bupivacaine is quite promising in postsurgical analgesia.
