Abstract: Background Cognitive dysfunction is defined as learning, memory, thinking, judgment and other higher brain dysfunction. There is no definitive prevention drugs. Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is recognized as one risk factor for cognitive dysfunction. Glucagon-like peptide -1 (GLP-1) and its analogues, a class of antidiabetic agents, have the protective effects on cognitive function. Objective To provide the theoretical basis for the prevention and treatment of GLP-1 and its analogues on cognitive dysfunction . Content This review will focus on protective effects of GLP-1 and its analogs on cognitive function Trend GLP-1 and its analogs are expected to become new drugs for prevention and treatment of neuropathic diseases such as cognitive dysfunction.
