Abstract: Background Patient-controlled analgesia(PCA) is a new way of analgesia in patient with active participation. Now PCA has become to be the most common treatment of postoperative pain. Objective This paper reviews the management strategy of postoperative PCA to provide clinical references. Content This paper included the following parts: the summary of the status quo of application and management strategy of PCA, the importance of establishing the management system and guideline for PCA. Trend According to the quo of PCA and information management, establishing an appropriate management system and guideline may standardize the management of postoperative pain, increase the safety and effectiveness of PCA and promot rehabilitation from operation.
