Abstract: Background Prohibitin(PHB) is a highly conserved protein, widely distributed in a variety of eukaryotic cells, can participate in, such as: cell proliferation, differentiation, senescence, apoptosis and growth and others biological functions. Recent studies have found that it is involved in myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury(I/RI), oxidative stress, can reduce the apoptosis of myocardial cells thereby protecting cardiomyocytes. Objective To summarize the relevant researches on PHB and review the current PHB researches on the cardiac aspect. Content Elaborate the PHB′s structure and positioning, biological functions, further studies′ advancement on cardiac and specially focus on the role of PHB on myocardial protection. Trend Of great significance is further exploring the PHB′s protective effects on cardiac, with in-depth study of PHB.
