Background　Hepatic ischemic/reperfusion injury（I/RI） is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in liver surgery and liver transplant surgery， which can be alleviated by limb remote ischemic preconditioning（LRIPC）.　Objective　To review the recent progress on the protection of hepatic I/RI with LRIPC.　Content　This article reviewed the evolution， mechanisms， windows of protection of LRIPC and the method to establish LRIPC model.　Trend　LRIPC will be a promising strategy to protect hepatic I/RI for clinical application.
