Common cold is widely accepted as a contraindication for paediatric anaesthesia. Nonetheless, a child recovering from such a cold with no positive laboratory results, a clear chest radiograph, and no typical clinical symptoms can undergo general anaesthesia without complications. This is a case of a child with atelectasis after extubating the endotracheal tube under general anaesthesia who was recovering from cold without any clinical symptoms.
