Abstract: Background Ketamine is one of the anesthesia medications clinical commonly used. Besides its traditional anesthesia effect, other effects on the body are also important, such as anti-inflammatory, brain protection,anti-depression, preemptive analgesia and so on. The researches on its anti-inflammatory effect have made great progress in recent years. Objective To guide its anti-inflammatory treatment in perioperative patients and severe cases,this review analyzes its anti-inflammatory effect in clinical application. Content The article summarizes its general situation of the research progress about anti-inflammatory effects in clinical application, indicate that ketamine has obvious inflammatory regulation effect, that is to say ketamine is an immune modulators, rather than the immune inhibitors. Trend How to optimize the dose, methods and administration time of ketamine, it will be the major trend.
