Abstract: Compared with adults, children have increases in extracellular fluid and blood volumes, metabolic rate, and fluid turnover rate relative to their body weight. Therefore, it is very important to choose appropriate liquid and optimize individualized therapy. In this review, the choice of perioperative infusion in children was comprehensively expounded from the aspects of the choice of crystal solution, the application of glucose solution and colloid in pediatric patients. Secondly, the application status of individualized liquid therapy in children was elaborated from three aspects: the significance of individualized liquid therapy for children, the strategy of stage liquid therapy and the evaluation of individualized treatment. Finally, we objectively evaluated the controversial application of goal-directed fluid therapy in pediatrics.
