Abstract: Transnasal humidified rapid‑insufflation ventilatory exchange (THRIVE) is an non‑invasive and well tolerated device of respiratory support, which can provide patients with a heated and humidified flow of oxygen up to 70 L/min. Current evidence suggest that, during treatment of respiratory diseases in different populations, THRIVE can improve ventilation efficiency, decrease re‑intubation rate. In the field of anesthesia, THRIVE can improve preoxygenation, and extend the apneic period in patients. THRIVE is also valuable in postoperative rehabilitation. THRIVE is a widely used new technique and its application required further research.
