Abstract: Truncal nerve blocks, adopted to provide postoperative analgesia after abdominal surgery at present, are performed by injecting the local anesthetics into the planes between specific muscles to infiltrate the corresponding nerves. In order to introduce various ultrasound‑guided trunk nerve block techniques and recent clinical research. This review summarizes the anatomical structure, the mechanism, and clinical effects of various ultrasound‑guided trunk nerve block. The indexes, adverse reactions, and the underlying mechanisms were discussed; In addition, the comparison of analgesic effects and complications among different trunk nerve blocks in clinical trials, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of different nerve block schemes were described. Further studies on the exact mechanism and clinical effects are proposed.
