Abstract: Ultrasound⁃guided thoracolumbar interfascial plane (TLIP) block is a new technology that provides analgesia effect on the lower back by blocking the dorsal rami of thoracolumbar nerves. This review summarizes the anatomical basis of TLIP block, a comparison of two entry routes for TLIP block, the clinical application of TLIP block, and complications of TLIP block as well as its advantages and disadvantages compared with other analgesic methods for lumbar analgesia. This technology has been used in perioperative analgesia of lumbar spine surgery due to its simple operation, wide range of analgesia, fewer contraindications, and complications. To provide evidence for clinical promotion, the clinical application of TLIP block still needs to be further explored.
