Supraglottic jet oxygenation and ventilation (SJOV) is a novel minimally invasive technique that could effectively deliver and maintain oxygenation in patients with respiratory depression or even apnea. SJOV is easy and convenient to set up and use. The effectiveness and safety of SJOV have been confirmed in many clinical studies. This article summarized the setup, clinical use, and complications. The advantage/disadvantage of SJOV is also compared to other oxygen supply techniques. The use of SJOV has unique advantages in larynx surgeries, tracheoscopy, and the management of difficult airways. Evidence is also in favor of the use of SJOV during procedural sedation, especially in patients with a high risk of hypoxemia. Whether SJOV could be used in a broader spectrum of clinical scenarios waits for further studies to answer.
