Abstract: Background In pregnancy, disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) may be induced by several complications such as pre-eclampsia, as well as amniotic fluid embolism, etc. Objective We discuss the role of placenta for pregnancy-associated DIC. Content This paper will introduce the new advance in our understanding of haemostatic mechanisms relating to the placenta.
