Abstract: [Abstract] Background Blood pressure monitoring is part of the standard of care for anesthesia induction, which is also very important for the guidance of clinical medication and the safety of patients. Objective This review summarizes the difference between noninvasive (NIBP) and invasive (IBP) blood pressure of different patients and influence on treatment. Content Compared with IBP, NIBP was likely to be higher than IBP at lower pressures, and NIBP was likely to be lower than IBP at higher pressures. Concomitant use of NIBP with IBP was associated with decreased use of transfusions, vasopressors, and antihypertensives compared with use of IBP alone. Trend The use of NIBP measurement to supplement IBP measurement is associated with getting accurate blood pressure and timely treatment compared with use of IBP measurement alone.
