Abstract: Background Long-term potentiation,as a classical electrophysiological models of neural plasticity and learning and memory mechanism has been widely studied,the molecular mechanism of which induction has been clear, but remains unknown in the maintenance of memory storge mechanisms. PKMζ is an autonomously active, atypical protein kinase C (aPKC) isoform that is both necessary and sufficient for maintaining long-term potentiation (LTP) and long-term memory. Objective In this article ,we summarize the research and development of the long-term memory mechanisms maintenance by PKM ζ currently.Content This article respectively describes four aspects:the summary of PKM ζ ,molecular mechanism of memory storage,memory erasure,related diseases.Trend People will do some more in-depth researches on keeping information, effects and mechanisms of maintaining the long-term memory
