Abstract: Background Sugammadex is a selective reversal agent for steroidal muscle relaxants, which can rapidly, safely, and efficiently antagonize the steroidal muscle relaxants, such as rocuronium. Its research and application increased in recent years along with the higher requirement in controllability of muscle relaxation. Objective This review focuses on introducing the research progress in clinical application of sugammadex, and provides guidance for its reasonable clinical application in muscle relaxants reversal. Content To review the pharmacology, clinical application, its use in special patient populations, contraindications and adverse effects of Sugammadex. Trend Sugammadex will have broad application prospects in muscle relaxants reversal and the combination application of Sugammadex and rocuronium will have the potential to replace succinylcholine.
