Abstract: Background Nicotinamide phosphoribosyltransferas(NAMPT) is a rate-limiting enzyme in the biosynthesis of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide(NAD). NAMPT can exist within and outside cells, and their effects are not the same. NAMPT plays an important role in cardiovascular system, but the role of NAMPT in myocardial ischemic reperfusion is still controversial. Objective To further understand the role of NAMPT in cardiovascular system and myocardial ischemic/reperfusion(I/R). Content Review the current researches on the souces of NAMPT and the potential cardiovascular effects, the effects of intracellular NAMPT(iNAMPT) and extracellular NAMPT(eNAMPT) on myocardial ischemic reperfusion. Trend Promote the understanding the role and mechanisms of NAMPT. It is expected to become a new target for the treatment of myocardial I/R injury.
