Abstract:

Background The current treatment of chronic pain is almost accompanied by a poor response and the side effect is quite undesirable. But a recent study has found that the chemokines and their receptors play a crucial role in the induction and maintenance of chronic pain. Objective To investigate the mechanisms by which chemokines contribute to chronic pain, especially neuropathic pain. Content This review puts an emphasis on gathering and reorganizing information about the mechanisms of CC chemokines sub-family in neuropathic pain, which may be the most important chemokines in regulating nociception. Trend Chemokines and their receptors may become novel therapeutic targets and approaches for the treatment of chronic pain.
