Background The flexible laryngeal mask airway（FLMA）is a superglottic artificial device for use in surgery to the head neck and upper torso．It is identical to the classic laryngeal mask airway（CLMA）expect that the airway tube is supported by a continuous coil of wire．It is widely used clinically because of the features of convenience mild damage，circulatory stabilization，less complication and more flexibility，resistance to compression，combining the advantages of the standard device and the reinforced endotracheal tube．Objective It is needed to learn the classification，method and application of FLMA．Content This review summarize the development，feature，selection，examination，insertion，administration，extraction and application of FLMA．Trend The review proposes some improvements to solve the problems appeared in clinical using.
