Abstract: Background There is still no good prevention strategy about postoperative adverse reactions. Methylprednisolone is one kind of glucocorticoid drug with anti-inflammatory, immunosuppressive, and anti-shock effects. Now more and more anesthesiologists use methylprednisolone treat postoperative adverse reactions such as postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV), pain, airway stability and inflammatory reactions. Objective To provide the clinical reference for clinical application of methylprednisolone in the perioperative period. Content This review summarized the influence of methylprednisolone on PONV, pain, airway stability and inflammatory reactions. Trend Methylprednisolone combined with other drugs have broad prospects in clinical anesthesia application.
