The role of extracellular histones in the pathogenesis of acute respiratory distress syndrome

摘要:

组织损伤、细胞坏死时组蛋白被释放到细胞外环境成为细胞外组蛋白。新近研究发现细胞外组蛋白是一种危险信号分子或炎性介质,在急性呼吸窘迫综合征(acute respiratory distress syndrome, ARDS)发病和进展中具有重要作用。文章回顾近年来国内外关于细胞外组蛋白与ARDS的研究,系统阐述了组蛋白的结构和功能、细胞外组蛋白的来源、细胞外组蛋白参与ARDS的可能机制以及针对细胞外组蛋白治疗ARDS的一些潜在措施。为深入研究细胞外组蛋白和ARDS的关系和探索ARDS的发生机制和临床干预措施提供理论依据。

Abstract:

When tissue damage and cell necrosis happen, histones are released into the extracellular environment, and become extracellular histones. Recent studies indicate that, extracellular histones are as dangerous signal molecules or inflammatory mediators, which play important roles in the development of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). In this review, we summarized recent researches on extracellular histones and ARDS, and elaborated the structures and functions of histones and the sources of extracellular histones, and investigated the possible mechanisms of the extracellular histones in ARDS and some potential measures for ARDS treatment targeting extracellular histones. Further studies on the relationship between extracellular histones and ARDS may provide theoretical basis and new therapeutic targets for ARDS treatment.
