Background Intravenous infusion of remifentanil for labor analgesia is a growing concern. However, improper handling can pose challenges to mother-infant safety and restrict its clinical application. Objective The purpose of this review is to further optimize the use of remifentanil in clinical practice for intravenous labor analgesia, provide a reference. Content Based on the pharmacological properties of remifentanil, we analyze and summarize the efficacy and safety of the drug in different intravenous administration during labor analgesia, making a review of its current application status and research progress both in China and abroad. Trend Intravenous labor analgesia by using remifentanil, patients can get higher degree of satisfaction, but does not recommend clinical routine application, for its safety and effectiveness still needs in-depth study.
