Abstract: Symptoms of chronic pain are usually caused by organic lesions and can also occur in non-organic lesion diseases. It could be a symptom of a functional disease or a mental disorder. In clinic, patients with typical pain symptoms who are usually complained of pain but no organic lesions may also have emotional disturbance. With the development of pain medicine in recent years, patients with chronic pain are likely to visit pain department, but their diseases could be difficult and challenging. Somatoform pain disorder (SPD) and depressive disorder (DDPS) with pain symptoms are common. Therefore, by reviewing two typical cases of SPD and DDPS, help pain-medicine practitioners to improve their understanding and diagnosis of these diseases.
