Abstract: Emergence delirium (ED) is a common clinical phenomenon in children after general anesthesia. The pathological mechanism by which emergence delirium occurs is still unclear. The prevention and treatment strategies are mainly based on various influencing factors, including anesthetic drugs, preoperative anxiety, pain and so on. Based on the characteristics of immature physical and psychological development in children, non‑drug interventions have the advantages of comfort, safety, and no side effect compared with drug therapy. This article summarizes the research progress of non‑drug interventions in reducing the incidence of ED in children. It focuses on the four aspects of non‑pharmacological psychological methods to prevent ED, which include preoperative cognitive education, distraction intervention, mood regulation and other interventions. Non‑drug interventions have become a new focus in the field of pediatric anesthesia, and can provide the reference for common clinical fields.
