Abstract: The pathogenesis and mechanism of Alzheimer's (AD) disease has not been uncovered. In recent years, the role of CX3CL1 and its receptor CX3CR1 in neurodegenerative diseases has gained widely attentions. This review mainly describes the structure and function of CX3CL1 and its receptor CX3CR1, the relationship between CX3CL1/CX3CR1 signaling and AD, the role of CX3CL1/CX3CR1 signaling in AD progression, and the receptor‑independent pathway of CX3CL1, providing a reference for future studies.
