Abstract: Clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats and CRISPR‑associated protein 9 (CRISPR/Cas9) gene editing technology is a gene‑editing system that can treat a variety of diseases by splicing DNA. The technique has the advantages of being flexible, simple, efficient and, more importantly, able to edit multiple genes simultaneously. CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing technology has been widely used in various fields in recent years, including great advances in the cardiovascular field. In this review, the application advances of CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing technology in cardiovascular disease research is summarized and the application of CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing technology in the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease is described and listed, so as to provide reference for creating new methods in the treatment of cardiovascular disease.
