Abstract: Epidural analgesia is the safest and most widely used method of labor analgesia in the world, but many clinical studies have found that·pregnant women who receive epidural analgesia are more likely to have a fever. Epidural‑related maternal fever (ERMF) is associated with adverse maternal and neonatal outcomes, and its mechanism is unclear. This review is designed to introduce the research progress in ERMF‑related mechanisms by summarizing the inflammatory state of pregnancy and delivery before analgesia, the operation of epidural analgesia, the drugs of epidural analgesia, the changes of maternal stress after analgesia, and parturient abnormal thermoregulation. To provide a reference for clinical decision‑making and research direction for exploring the mechanism of ERMF.
