Abstract: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‑19) caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS‑CoV‑2), emerged as a highly contagious and is spreading globally at an accelerating rate. Pregnant women constitute a significant portion of the population that could be impacted by SARS‑CoV‑2. The physiological changes in normal pregnancy may affect or exacerbate the pathogenesis or clinical presentation of COVID‑19. During the COVID‑19 pandemic, labor and delivery are inevitable. Obstetric care providers should make the process of giving birth as safe as possible. As anesthesiologists, they must face these challenges, including choosing anesthetic methods based on the patient's condition, protecting themselves from exposure to the virus during the procedure, and specific risks for medication use in COVID‑19 pregnant women and their babies. Based on evidence from the latest studies and expert recommendations, this review aims to provide practical considerations for anesthesia and analgesia care for pregnant women with COVID‑19, bringing together an up‑to‑date understanding of SARS‑CoV‑2 and pregnancy.
