Abstract: Obese patients undergoing bariatric surgery are more likely to experience postoperative nausea and vomiting(PONV) than those in the normal weight range. The impact of PONV on postoperative accelerated recovery has attracted increasing attention among the bariatric surgery population. There are guidelines currently for the management of PONV in general surgery, but no established guidelines available for the prevention or treatment of PONV in obese patients. In this review,we summarizes the factors associated with PONV among bariatric surgery patients and compares the effect of different intervention methods on the prevention and treatment of PONV, in order to provide reference for the prevention and treatment of this adverse reaction.
