Abstract: Inhalational Anesthetics Postconditioning (APO), i.e., providing inhalational anesthetics of certain concentration at the early stage of reperfusion after myocardial ischemia. Many researches have demonstrated that the APO can apparently protect ischemia/reperfusion myocardium. The cardioprotective mechanism of the APO is similar to ischemia-induced postconditioning. In this paper, we have reviewed the progress of the cardioprotective mechanism of the APO from the aspects of activation of Reperfusion Injury Salvage Kinase (RISK), control of cardiocytes apoptosis during reperfusion, opening of mitochondria ATP-sensitive potassium channels(mitoKATP), inhibit mitochondrial permeability transition pore(mPTP) opening and etc..
